Lucia Odescalchi’s artistic personality was formed in the course of her enthusiastic progress through various creative environments: first of all during her years at the Dance Academy, which gave her great discipline; then came a period in the world of fashion, as a model for the most prestigious fashion houses, which refined her own innate style; and finally her experience as an entrepreneur with “L’Oro dei Musei”, which brought her into close contact with precious stones and metals.
This mix of skills came together in 2000 in the creation of a brand of jewelry that bears her name. One of the key aspects of her creations is the concept of the originality of each piece, characterized by a personal style that has more to do with her own desire than any trends, the idea often arising from the material itself. The specific characteristics of her jewelry rely on sculptural shapes, in keeping with our lives today, designed to meld and harmonize with the personality of the wearer. Her individual style, which is underpinned by extensive exploration of the material, its form and line, has attracted a sophisticated clientele, which is interested in a style that couldn’t be further from serial production and receptive to the idea of wearing a piece of jewelry that encapsulates the essence of our time. The results of this work have come together in the exaltation of unusual materials whose final forms are sophisticated, linear or solid, and where precious materials are combined to striking effect with simpler ones. Her forays into the world of contemporary art, of which Lucia is a discerning connoisseur, have given rise to collections of jewelry that retrace the aesthetic journeys of twentieth-century artists: Calder’s mobiles, Fontana’s spatial concepts, Klimts chromatism, and optical-kinetic grids. Even the showroom, in the centuries-old Palazzo Odescalchi situated in the heart of Rome, reflects this aesthetic approach: a light-filled space with mirrors and anthracite surfaces where her bold creations are displayed in plexiglas cases.
